5-years

I received the notice from right here on WordPress that it is the fifth anniversary of this blog.

Five years is a long time.

And to be honest, in 2016, I just don’t feel like this blog is doing its job any more. It has been less entertaining. Less educational.

I just don’t see it working its purpose any longer. The feedback has dropped to basically zero.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve written less and less. But that shares no blame with anything. Other than I just haven’t done it.

With over 200,000 views in this short amount of time and knocking on the door of 1,000 total posts, I cannot say for sure what the future of this blog will be. I have left it up to you, the readers, to comment in the comment section below. But …. there’s nothing. With the exception of a butthurt photographer that I “used their photo” and they feel violated enough to threaten me.

And yet I have not made the final decision to take this blog out into the grass and shoot it in between the eyes. So it will still be here for now.

Five years is quite some time. And to think that I had only first decided to use the blog as a form of therapy for me, like a journal. Not really intended for the masses of public consumption. But that quickly changed. And that earned me probably everything that I have with this blog today.

I know this has a negative feeling to it. And you’re probably right. But do not get me wrong, I am still just as thankful for everyone as I was when I just got started.

I don’t know what the next five years will bring. But I’m willing and able to find out. As long as you are willing and able to find out along side me.

Thank you ALL for these five years!!!

blgoAt some point on the 2nd of January 2016, this main blog reached another milestone in total views.

200,000 total views to this particular blog. And all of it appears to be legit and intentional.

I find this to be important to note as I have found myself very humbled by this particular statistic. Considering that it comes just before the fifth anniversary of this blog being in existence.

I have all of you to thank for this. The faithful disciples of Dambreaker.

If you honestly like what I do here, let me know! And be sure to tell those that you think will enjoy it as well.

I know that in recent months, I have been silent. But that has been on purpose. I am unable to explain it at the moment, but all will be revealed in its own good time.

I’m just so honored that people would want to search and read and go through all of the posts that have been written over the years. I love you all from the bottom of my heart. 200000_pageviews

I don’t know what the stats will look like when the time comes in February, but we shall see.

Again, thank you.

Recently I saw a post for Lone Star Metal magazine. They were looking for good writers. And although I really wanted to wave my hand in the air and say something, I had doubt in myself as to whether or not I was good ENOUGH for such and adventure.

Then today I received word from Lone Star Metal magazine asking if I wanted to be a review writer for them.

I still did not know if I was good enough and so I sent them the last CD review, which was for One-Eyed Doll “Witches” and after letting them decide, before I knew it….. I realized that I am now a contributing author to the website.

All I have to do is when I write a CD or an album review, is to send it to LSM, and they will have it published.

Wow!!! guitar

So yeah, I’m pretty excited about it all. I gave LSM all the “reviews” that I could find, and they already posted it on their website with a link back to here on this blog.

Apparently I AM good enough for this!! And other people believe in me too.

I’m looking forward to this next part of the journey. Although I feel as if I need to move it to another corner of the cyber world and allow for the reviews to have its own place. So if WordPress will allow, I will go for yet ANOTHER blog and it will remain strictly for album reviews.

Once I have it all set up and ready to go, I’ll mention it here. Those of you who wish to follow me there, are more than welcome. If you also know of a band or group that needs some exposure….. I’m your guy now. Let me know!!!

I’m excited. SOOOOO excited!!!!

Thank you dear readers.

So let’s end the evening of blogging with something happy. Something new and fresh. Something POSITIVE.

This is my super-intense-batteries-not-included-underground-no-admittance-without-the-password-under-scrutiny-by-an-oath-of-silence-members-only-fabulously-set-to-music-primarily-awesome-most-beautiful-world’s-most-terrific-top-notch-redheaded-secret-friend.

But you can call her Aussa.

She is also known for her cult definition to the word supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as you will see a photograph of her in the margins for that specific dictionary entry.

I know her because she has a blog as well. And truth be told, she has twice as many followers to it as I have to this blog. In addition, her blog is far better than mine is.

Aussa today wins the Internet Award for her blog post that she produced earlier in the day. I do not know how she feels about winning blog awards, so I will skip the award memes here. To be safe.

It appears as if she is now going through a major life transition with her significant other, she refers to as The Boyfran. Such a transition that it is difficult for many to fathom. But she is hopeful that this transition will be happy and healthy as she deals with the fact that she now has the option of whether or not to use the name of The Boyfran to refer to the significant other known as simply, Alex.

This just happened.

This just happened.

Amalgamation of names resulting in a delightfully fun term of AuSex to define the two of them together in this relationship in which the parameters have greatly changed.

I’ve known Aussa for about a year through the commonality if our blogs and have been in contact with her on a socially acceptable personal level for that same amount of time.

As of recently, she has been featured in Cosmopolitan magazine. No lie!!!

Aussa is the luxury fountain of knowledge based on her own travels, experiences, and of course… styles.

And now she’s entering into a different stage, a new chapter if you will, in her life with her significant other.

To put it very bluntly, I could not be any happier for the both of them as they embark on this journey together as their lives will soon become one path as man and wife.

I originally had an actual visit to Aussa in person, one-on-one somewhere, possibly at some event on my bucket list. But it was to happen within the next ten years. Now with this new update, I’ll be including the mister as well in that visitation IF she’ll have me.

Each and every blog post that she composes sheds a light into her brilliance and expertise along with her professionalism in knowing just how to get the point across to her readers by way of tales. I wished I was as good at it as she is.

Now if only she will accept my goat sacrifice in her honor. In which it will be the first of many.

Check out her blog. Join it. Be one with it. Learn from it. BE the blog!! Subscribe and follow her blog as you will not be disappointed with the levels of entertainment that she brings. And the expertise of seriousness towards other fateful issues of every day life when humor has no place.

Tell her that DAMBREAKER sent you in her comment section. And be blessed by Aussa’s writings. As well as enjoy them as much as I have this past-almost-a-full-year. I will be sure to put it in with the other important links in the Blog Roll.

Her latest blog post can be found here:

Another milestone in this blog’s history came about today.  And I would be lying if I said that I was not proud of this unusual accomplishment.

This morning I noticed that I was close to reaching 140,000 total views. And now I have surpassed that as it goes beyond 140,100 total views.

So I figured that I would break it down awfully fast for those of you who cannot help it but live in a world of numbers.

It is true that I do not have as many followers/subscribers as I had hoped I would have at this point. Nonetheless I am happy to have what I DO have. But I would not have thought that I would reached this amount of total worldwide views so soon.

This blog post will be the 679th post for Dambreaker.

24 posts where someone left a comment. 296 comments total so far and 79 comments are from me personally responding back.

I have 125 total followers/subscribers at this point. bloggest

From the beginning, it has been 3 years, 5 months, and 21 days. Seven days short of saying “Three and a half exact years.” Or 3 years and 6 months. An exact total of 181 weeks.

This blog has been around for 1,267 days and counting.

Its been accessed through any random search engine 109,993 times. The top engines being Google Image searches 58,368 times. Google Search 31,614 times. Yahoo Image Search 10,824 times. And then Twitter 25 times.

People have clicked on the link on my personal Facebook page to read 4,043 times.

There’s only a few countries that the blog has not been accessed within (many countries from Africa):

Somalia

Mozambique

Chad

Central African Republic

South Sudan

Western Sahara

Mauritania

Mali

Guinea

Sierra Leone

Greenland

Svalbard

Turkmenistan

Kyrgyzstan

I do not know if I ever will get someone from these nations to log on to my blog or not. But it would be really fantastic to say that each and every nation and country on the planet has viewed my blog at least one time. I suppose that I could do some research on these countries and then write about them and tag them and see what happens from there. I am not afraid to tag as I have 2,966 tags in total.

Naturally, since I am from the United States of America, it is the top accessing nation. Followed by United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong, Germany, and India.

n0600

Here we are. The 600th blog post of DAMBREAKER.

And I sit here with a blank expression upon my face as fatigue begins to slowly put its strangle hold on me.

600 is a lot of times to write. Its been going on for a little longer than three years. And a handful of people have been watching, reading, and listening since near the beginning.

But since the last resounding landmark of this blog, the number of people who have made that commitment to follow has exploded.

So I have fresh faces and fresh eyes upon here who have been so kind and supportive. And I just will say thank you to them. And of course thank you to those people who have always been there and to those who have fallen upon the path along the way.

I apologize that I have nothing more resounding than this. But understand that there’s nothing bigger in my heart but the love that I have for you all who have decided to follow the blog, for those who leave feedback in the comment section, and for those who share my insanity with others so that many don’t have to feel so bad when they compare my life with their own.

I have no plans of slowing down. I’ve just been trying to trim down how much I use the blog to bitch and moan. It still is regarded as my own personal diary, but now I am sharing it with at least 110 people and many more who are silent and steady readers.

Thank you all for your readership and your support and constant determination to get through whatever bullshit I am spitting out on these pages. Well, not ALL of it is bullshit… but for those of you who know, you get the point.

And so thank you. One and all.

DAMBREAKER is proud to be of your service.

This really happened over on the blog from Author Jodi Ambrose:

http://jodiambroseblog.com/2014/01/27/what-the-shit-is-this/

I blew up and unleashed hell and couldn’t control myself.

Some say I was channeling the spirits of the might and the foul. I honestly don’t know what was going on. I just know that I was infuriated, and sympathetic to the lovely Jodi’s situation. I grew up with Cracker Jack, and the prize was the whole point of buying the stupid stuff. And now this?????

There was more to the exchange between myself and Jodi, but I put together the most important parts. And then came the comment at the bottom.

THAT HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST COMPLIMENT I HAVE EVER RECEIVED IN MY LIFE!!!!!!

And I had failed to see it until today. Yet: message received.

I’ve heard of people spraying drinkable liquids through their nose because they were drinking and laughing at the same time. I never have been told that my brand of commentary would be the cause of it.

That’s just a pretty darn good feeling right there.

Liebster-Award

Check this out!

I received a notice today that I was nominated for a Liebster Blog Award.

It was totally unexpected. And I have seen blog awards around but had no idea how in the world one receives them or wins them or whatever.

But here I am with MY FIRST nomination.

First off, thank you to the person who nominated me. The fine author over at:
http://writetolivelivetowrite.com/

So I was given ten questions to answer. And I had to answer them all for the first part. And here we go. Get your tissues and put on your big person’s undies:

1. What is the single most amazing thing you have ever tasted in your entire life? I want details people! There is this hamburger join on U.S. Highway 160 inside the city limits of Coldwater, Kansas. Their hamburgers are quite divine. But since I left the state over ten years ago, and my parents are no longer living along that route, I’ve never been back. And I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the place.

2. If there is one moment you could relive in your life, what would it be and why? The night that I manhandled Céline Dion’s ass………… and lived!! It was prior to her American fame exploding with “Beauty and the Beast.” I think that given that if you know who I am, the why is self-explanatory.

3. What is the one thing you have never tried, are beyond scared to, but want to accomplish before they put you in the ground? I’ve wanted to travel to as many European countries as possible. PBS is the devil!! But I jest. I’m afraid though that I will never make it.

4. Worst date you’ve ever been on? The worst date I have ever been on, was a blind date with a woman that drove 3 hours across the state to hang out with me. Our expectations were far different than one another for the night. And only after two drinks, she admitted that the male roommate that she had was in fact her boyfriend. But she wasn’t happy with him at that time. And because I wasn’t getting what I was wanting, coupled with that new piece of information, I insisted she take me home. I didn’t even bother with the formalities at the end, I slammed her car door and went running inside of the house. Only to find out that she had been arrested trying to go back home. She was swerving on the highway due to fatigue and the cop noticed something and searched her car. Her entire trunk was full of drugs. Thankfully I was gone at that point. But all the promises of desire and longing were a bunch of crap. I fell for it. Something changed her mind and I never knew what. Now she’s sitting in a woman’s prison for 25.

5. What do you want to be when you grow up? If you’re already grown up, what did you want to be when you were growing up? I had switched “careers” throughout my childhood and young adulthood. I wanted to be so many different things that it depends on what year of age I was. It changed every year. The last time I thought about it, I wanted to be a Sign Language Interpreter. But that never worked out for me.

6. What is your guilty pleasure? Cottage cheese. Shut up! Next question.

7. If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?  Nikki Lynn to begin with.  I love her to pieces and would do anything and sacrifice whatever I had for her. Others such as Jodi Ambrose and “Lusty Biter” also have been so extremely awesome and kick ass in my life. I wouldn’t know what I would do without them.  Like the song says, I would walk across the fire for them. Celebrity-wise?? Maybe Céline Dion, Tom Hanks, Deborah Gibson, and a few others. But my focus wouldn’t really be on celebrity type people. It would be more towards the people that have made a HUGE impact to my life in some way personally.

8. What is your passion in life? Music. It always has been. Always will be.

9. If there is one thing you could say to your 13 year old self, what would it be? I will tell the 13 year old self that things are about to get really shitty for a while, but hang on because it won’t last forever.

10. What bores you to tears? Golf, soap operas, and watching people make the same freaking mistakes over and over and over and over again without ever learning to stop doing that.

My personal nominations for this award go to:

Sense So Common

Clantily Scad

Emily’s Blog

FogCity Musings

Life Interrupted

A Redhead’s Guide

The ten question that I personally would ask are the following:

  1. What is the most common thing you daydream about?
  2. What is your top 3 short term goals in life (up to the next 10 years)
  3. What would you say is your greatest personal achievement?
  4. If you could have one “super power” what would it be and why?
  5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
  6. If you are having a Hollywood style party name your top five VIP guests:
  7. If you could plan your last meal, what would you eat and/or drink?
  8. What is your favorite smell?
  9. If blogging was not available, what would you be doing in your spare time instead?
  10. When is your birthday?

For those ten who I have been given a nomination:

Rules! Should you decide to accept the challenge, follow these please:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog.
2. You must answer the 10 questions given to you by the nominee before you.  (Seen above in bold.)
3. You must nominate 10 of your favorite blogs with fewer than 200 followers and notify them of their nomination.
4. You must come up with 10 questions for your nominees to answer.

Personally I thought this was kind of fun. I don’t know when or if ever I’ll win or not win. But I guess we’ll find out. I am proud of the work here and I continue to keep everything going the way things were.

Until next time!!!!!

100

I just reached over 100 subscribers/followers to this blog.

I’ve been reaching around the blogosphere and I have found some really AWESOME people! Not to mention BEEEE-AUTIFUL people!! They have me in stitches with their content.

Ironically enough, the 100th follower is someone who writes the blog called “You’re Just A Dumbass.”

Its just really good stuff, especially if you’re the relationship type. OR if you’re the single type wanting to be the relationship type.

http://yourejustadumbass.wordpress.com/

Tell her DAMBREAKER sent you.

And now with 106,085 total views and 103 followers, I am grateful and want to take this moment to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! And I hope that you continue to read here.

For those of you who have been transplanted from the other project: Welcome. This is basically a PRIMARY blog for me. But I will do work in both. And thank you for your double duty dedication.

Until the next time, which will probably be another SIX MINUTE CENTURY post. I’m excited to have to get up in the morning and get on a bus to go rock out with my friends, and hopefully see Little Baby Froth. He’s such a cute little boy from the photographs I have been seeing on Facebook.

But thank you for helping me make this step. And I hope for many, many more.

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 41,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 15 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
