OMGAWARD

Ladies & gentlemen, readers and subscribers and followers: here we are.

After much pondering and decision making, I had decided that it was time to unveil a NEW Blogger Award.

I had been seen these other blog awards being tossed around like steam stacks of hot potatoes and I began to wonder what could it possibly be about these awards that they just collect mental dust because honestly, nobody has anything tangible to show for it.

Well….. neither does this award. Nothing tangible. But we will see how far it goes.

Why a new blog award??

Good question.

In my personal journey of blogging over this three year and more time span, one cannot help but cross paths with people that will put such a positive influence that it changes your life for the better.

These are the people that should be given the nod for the OMGYA! Award.

People that have given you some major impact, NOT someone who is just your BFF. People that you could say at a certain time in your life you did not know, but now you don’t believe that functioning without them is possible. THAT kind of impact!

And that is how you figure out your nomination.

People who are nominated (and choose to accept the award) are required to do just some of the standard blog award requirements.

They are to write in their own personal blog “their acceptance speech” and provide to their readers the person who gave them the original nomination. And then of course as always, that person will nominate any and all people that have made significant positive changes in their lives by way of their blog(s).

There are NO questions to answer about yourself.
There are NO questions to ask of your nominations.
There is NO limit as to how many nominations you can give. You can give 1 or you can give 10,000.

People who are NOT eligible for this award are the following:

Spouses/significant others
Siblings
Parents
Immediate Family Members of Bloggers and Writers
BFF’s

Spread your love and joy outside of your circles!! People who you appreciate and are grateful for because of their blog.

These are the people that I give this brand new award because I believe that they ARE awesome! They’ve reached down deep and pulled something out of me that has been lifting me up and make me better. They go the distance for me OR they are just needing to know that hey…. I care about you and what you are doing, damnit!!!

I am nominating them with the personal note of appreciation for all that they have done. I am forever grateful.

Congratulations one and all!!

100

I just reached over 100 subscribers/followers to this blog.

I’ve been reaching around the blogosphere and I have found some really AWESOME people! Not to mention BEEEE-AUTIFUL people!! They have me in stitches with their content.

Ironically enough, the 100th follower is someone who writes the blog called “You’re Just A Dumbass.”

Its just really good stuff, especially if you’re the relationship type. OR if you’re the single type wanting to be the relationship type.

Tell her DAMBREAKER sent you.

And now with 106,085 total views and 103 followers, I am grateful and want to take this moment to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! And I hope that you continue to read here.

For those of you who have been transplanted from the other project: Welcome. This is basically a PRIMARY blog for me. But I will do work in both. And thank you for your double duty dedication.

Until the next time, which will probably be another SIX MINUTE CENTURY post. I’m excited to have to get up in the morning and get on a bus to go rock out with my friends, and hopefully see Little Baby Froth. He’s such a cute little boy from the photographs I have been seeing on Facebook.

But thank you for helping me make this step. And I hope for many, many more.

“By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.”~ Confucius

I’m reflecting on this day. And I would have to say that today, I am doing much better personally and emotionally than I had been doing just one year ago.

By the way, my apartment manager gave me Starbucks for my birthday, so if this seems “off” you can blame him.

Its my birthday. A year ago, I was laying in a hospital bed with a deadly infection that had me out of commission for 12 days. It was something that I saw coming and noted in a previous blog, and I was right.

But this year I am not in the hospital. I am at home. And healthy.

Around the time of my birthday in 2011, I had not yet started this blog. It was created a few days later. But this is the first time that I am at home and able to write on this blog on my birthday.

I’m grateful to those who have given me birthday wishes thus far. I appreciate everyone who have thought of me thus far today. I’m sure that there will be much more as the day goes on.

As for the rest of 2013, I am full of hope. I’m feeling upbeat and not so depressed. Let’s hope I can hang on to this kind of emotion for a long, long time.

I am looking forward to more hockey, and many more times with friends and away from home.

Nothing but good times.

So I won’t find something like this in my home for my birthday, but I can dream!! Right?

I probably will not be doing anything special to celebrate and that’s just fine. I’ve not been able to do something like that in such a long time that I’ve pretty much forgotten what that is like. And I’m probably not missing anything.

But I give my love to all of you who continues to read my mindless posts, whether or not its been educational or not.

I’m glad to be alive. And I’m glad to know that I do have so many people thoughtful and caring enough to take a second out of their lives to wish me a happy birthday.

I do have many more subjects that I wish to write about in this blog in the near future, so keep your eyes open for those.

And as I suffer the caffeine crash from the Starbucks and the sugar drop from the cookie, I do feel bad for anyone within 150 meters of me for the next several hours.

But all in all, I am so happy that I am NOT in the hospital this year. And that I am free to do what I want to do on this day. Its a wonderful feeling to have this freedom.

Thank you dear readers, and stay tuned!!!!!!!!!!!!

“There are no regrets in life, just lessons.”~ Jennifer Aniston

Its only the third day of November and already I am just shaking my head.

If you are on Facebook or have been in the past few years, you know about this activity in which every day in the month of November you post about something that you are thankful for.

That’s it. One day, one thing.

It seemed harmless and innocent from the first time that I learned about it. And now its becoming a bore and something that is so predictable.

Unfortunately you will find those who are active in this idea, but they tend to forget for a number of days to post what they are thankful for. I honestly think that for a few, its not possible for them to come up with thirty different things. I laugh each and every time when I see that by the middle of the month, someone has given thanks for something that they posted that they were already thankful for. They go into a repetition that is just too laughable.

These things in which people are thankful for become so cluttering, especially when they have simply forgotten for a few days and then they unload in a post of many things at once.

I know that November is the month in which people who live in the United States spend one day of Thanksgiving. And this activity on Facebook was probably started by someone who lives in the United States.

But why is it that people are so in tuned for many things that they are thankful for in the month of November? Is it because of the American holiday of Thanksgiving which makes this activity come into play? My point is why can’t there be a sharing of things in which we are thankful for THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE YEAR?? Why is it just focused in on the month of November.

So yeah, in this year of 2012 I have seen some people tackle it. But they didn’t even bother to start off on the right foot. Yesterday being the second day of November, people who engaged in this were double posting what they were thankful for.

It may or may not be interesting to watch to see just how long it takes for people to repeat themselves for their thankful posts, whether accidental, forgetful, or whatever. It usually happens after the 16th or 17th of the month before someone goofs up and repeats themselves.

And this is never to say that I am not thankful for anything. I think that if you have been paying attention to this blog for any length of time, you know how appreciative and thankful I am for a lot of things. I just don’t think its necessary to narcissistically go on and on on a daily basis throughout one month of the year.

Rant over.

And just like that, after writing the post of “Poetry & Prose”, I come to this post.

MY 100TH POST on WordPress.

Not sure what I thought I was going to do about it when I noticed that I was getting closer and closer to this mark. I know that by now I could have passed this point many days ago, but I decided not to write about the negativity that was going on in my life and just vomit it all over my blog. I think that definitely would have made the 100th post a very long time ago. But I made the decision to wait until things were much calmer. I’m glad that I did.

Starting this blog back in February, I was not sure how long it would take me to get to 100 posts. Just the other day, I saw another blogger who had reached 1,000!! I could not even fathom it. But here I am, with many subjects written and I’ve reached this point in less than a full six months.

A lot of the content is not uniformed by any stretch of the imagination. The content spans from life experiences for sure. Some funny, some heartbreaking, some to be sought as a learning experience for others and as a warning, and yes…. the contest entries and personal blog posts that were sent to people vicariously.

There are some subjects that I posted in this blog that got more views than others. And of course, it has always kept me guessing. Just when I think that I am writing about something that is going to shake up the world, something else grabs their attention and the view counts on other posts soar by the tens and twenties day by day.

I didn’t set out to become something of an online professional. Neither do I claim to be. I just can write about my own experiences, thoughts, and feelings at the time. Many of which I hope deep down in my heart, have helped some reader.

As of this hour and the last time that I checked, I have over 1,800 views and very close to 1,900. I wonder what 2,000 will feel like? Stay tuned!

Over 20 comments have been left on various blog posts. And eight people decided to subscribe and become Disciples of Dambreaker. To them, I can never say “thank you” enough.

But a special thank you to the people whom I call “my blog father and mother”.

After reading Frothtonomy enough times, I actually made the decision to begin a blog of my own. The author of that blog here on WordPress gave me the influence to these 100 posts that exist today. He is “my blog father”. Thanks for being so moist, my man!!

Shortly after I began this blog, I became a colleague/friend with J.S. Chancellor, who is actually an author of wonderful fiction. I give her special recognition because she helped me along the way with how WordPress functions and could actually work better for me. She is “my blog mother”. Always willing to help and never holds a grudge when I ask her silly questions- especially when the answer was right there in front of my face. She’s been there to simply POINT at it and smile. Thank you, my wonderful friend. My heart always shines a place for you and your friendship.

These two people have their blogs in the list of links in the Blogroll on the left side of the page.

At some point, I began to include images in my blog posts. Then I began to add memorable quotes from well-known people or dialogue from popular American films that was in relation to the content of each blog. I don’t remember exactly when I started doing that, but I believe it has helped fill the blank void of just words on a screen.

To those who inspire, thank you. To those who have been supportive, again… thank you.

For those just seeking information, YOU’RE WELCOME!

This means at least a little something to me that I have 100 posts. Who knows how far this will go?? I enjoy it, and comments and questions are always welcomed. I am looking forward to the next 100 posts in the future.

So I sign off of THIS particular post, with all the love in my heart for those who are there and have been there.

Thank you & Much Love to All!!!!!!!
